Bypass as an alternative to bypass northwest
Citizens and environmental organizations Cuernavaca express our displeasure at recent statements from the SCT in which this office announced that already have the resources Bypass construction northwest of Cuernavaca.
The realization of this project would involve an environmental catastrophe, as this line would cross the road past the town of Cuernavaca forests and natural protected area Chichinautzin Biological Corridor, which contain significant biodiversity and endemic wildlife as also a strategic area of \u200b\u200baquifer recharge that supplies water to 100% of the municipality of Cuernavaca. In fact, one of the worst threats, to build the bypass northwest, is the interest of real estate companies by splitting the wood, and if this happen unfortunately, our future and our children would be committed to tackle the critical situation we are living with global warming and climate change.
be recalled that since 2004, Greenpeace, Guardians of the trees, Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental, CRIM-UNAM academics, UAEM, Morelos Academy of Human Rights, groups living in communities of Santa Maria Ahuacatitlán, Chamilpa and Tetela del Monte, we are opposed to the construction of the Bypass northwest by the severe impairment which would cause a highway to the different forest ecosystems in this region. Parallel to the opposition of this highway project, environmentalists and academics present road layout alternatives that did not affect the forest, however, have not been accepted by the Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT).
One of the lines proposed alternative is the construction of a high level on the Bypass Current Cuernavaca. This alternative has been taken into account by the mayor Manuel Martínez Garrigos, through the Department of Public Works of the City Cuernavaca, which, through the media said publicly last December 3, 2009 to further this alternative road to the northwest bypass, in order to conserve forests and ravines of Cuernavaca.
Although environmentalists believe that the second levels are not ideal, this time we are willing to support a work of this kind in order to protect and preserve our canyons and forests, ensuring environmental services offered by these strategic ecosystems.
will ask the mayor, Manuel Martínez Garrigos through a letter, which at the insistence of the SCT to start building soon Bypass northwest, the present government as soon as possible to the public the draft of the current High Level Bypass Cuernavaca.
Finally, we wish to inform the public that the threat of the SCT to start with the construction of the northwest bypass, public opposition will not cease, however, be increased by further actions in defense of our forests , ravines and Chichinautzin Corridor.

1. Would go through a southern portion of the Mesoamerican Biological Chichinautzin by forest pine and oak, and canyons that contain or mountain cloud forest, one of the most threatened ecosystems on the planet.
2. Because of the construction of bridges and tunnels would seriously affect the groundwater, which supplies water to Cuernavaca by 100%. The road line would pass very near the source Tepeite.
3. Impact the wildlife and species that are threatened and endangered species, some endemic (unique in the world).
4. Favor human settlements originated population centers that would gradually destroying the ecosystems of forests and ravines.

1. Not cross the protected area Chichinautzin Corridor or wooded areas, agricultural and downs, nor affect wildlife or endangered species or endangered.
2. Not affect the surface or underground water resources strategy for the supply of water to Cuernavaca.

4. The land is federal property, do not expropriate or negotiate. There is already tracing the curves and slopes suitable for highway, thus saving many millions of dollars.
5. Is the option that achieves the highest benefit to society Morelense who inhabit this region with minimal environmental impact protecting strategic resources.
